Requirements: You must have all of the items listed in order to encode for live streaming.
- Dedicated Internet Connection (DSL, T1, etc...)
- Video capture card (for video)
- Sound card (for video and audio)
- IP Address
Instructions for setting up a live audio and/or video broadcast presentation using Windows Media Encoder 7.1

Start (View diagram)
- Select Broadcast, capture or convert a file using the New Session Wizard.
- Click OK.

Session Selection (View diagram)
- Select Broadcast a live event from attached devices or computer screen.
- Click OK.

Device Options (View diagram)
- Select the Video option if your presentation includes a streaming video.
- Choose your video capture card.
- Select the Audio option.
- Choose your sound card.
- Click Next.

Broadcast Connection (View diagram)
- Enter the HTTP port number.
- Click Next.

5. PROFILE SELECTION (View diagram)
- Choose a profile from the list matching the connection speed you will use for streaming your content.
- If the profile you would like is not available, click Create and Manage Profiles. Create a custom profile.
- Click Next.

Archive Option (View diagram)
- Select Archive a copy of the broadcast if you would like to maintain a copy of the presentation.
- Name the archive file.
- Click Next.

Video Option (View diagram)
- This Video Option will appear if you are capturing a video.
- Select No, I want to broadcast from my selected devices only option.
- Click Next.

Display Information (View diagram)
- Type your information. This information will be displayed when the encoded content is viewed.
- Click Next.

Settings Review (View diagram)
- Review the information.
- Click Finish once the information has been verified.

Windows Media Encoder (View diagram)
- Open your Windows Media Encoder.
- Click Start.
Note
- If your presentation is inaudible, click Mixer...on the bottom left-hand side of the
Windows Media Encoder monitor. In the Recording Control dialog box, verify that the
correct input is selected. For example, if you are talking through a microphone,
make sure Mic is selected.

- Select the devices you want to use.
- Choose the appropriate devices listed for each category.
- Click Next.

- Select Pull from the encoder option.
- Click Next.

Broadcast Connection (View diagram)
- Type in your port number.
- Click Next.

Encoding Options (View diagram)
- Select the connection speeds of your live stream.
- Click Next.

Display Information (View diagram)
- Type your information. This information will be displayed when the encoded content is viewed.
- Click Next.

Settings Review (View diagram)
- Review the information.
- Click Finish once the information has been verified.
